Garden of Gethsemane in snow, Jerusalem, 1938, via Library of Congress. Not sure what lessons can be gleaned from this, though, except get yourself some super-old, gnarly trees for dramatic effect.

Our backyard and greenhouse made with re-cycled and re-purposed materials in Missoula, Montana. Apart from our vegetable garden (which is the only thing we water), we exclusively garden with plants native to the Missoula area. We have a small city lot but have attracted over 60 species of birds and countless insects, and our garden is an extension of our living space. I chronicle our garden on my blog http://montanawildlifegardener.blogspot.com/
